Chronological Uncertainty & Spectral Peaks

Assessment of the robustness of spectral peaks in proxy records with chronological uncertainty.

Original publication describing the model: Hatvani, I.G., Tanos, P., Mudelsee, M. and Kern, Z., (2022). Robust periodic signals in proxy records with chronological uncertainty. Quaternary Science Reviews, Vol. 276, paper: 107294; doi: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.quascirev.2021.107294

Usage

Please provide the input parameters for the model to assess if the period sought for can indeed be robustly detected under the given chronological circumstances. Input the chronological uncertainty (Unc [time step]), mean sampling resolution (MSR [sample / time step]) and the period [time step] sought for. Please note that the values can either be in years (yrs) or 1000 years (kyrs), just make sure all the variables have the same measurement unit for the time steps. For further details on the underlying model and real-life examples, the user is referred to Sect. 6 of the original study, Hatvani et al. (2022) Read more...

Input

1) Select a noise model:

2) Select a timestep:

3) Select unit of mean sampling resolution:
